 Article by Stuart Hodge National Development Manager Mark Senter has identified Irvine as capable of producing Scottish Rugby League internationals - as plans to form a team in Irvine gain momentum. The man charged with promoting the sport in Scotland is enthusiastic about facilitating the move and is confident that it will go ahead. He said: "When we look for teams to join the Co-operative Rugby League Conference, we look at two things: we want to see whether the investment will benefit the national side in the long run, and need evidence of a solid structure. Irvine Sports Club meets the criteria and some of the most talented players we have are from Ayrshire so it could be a potential hotbed of talent." |

The European Cup sponsors rugbyleague.com have produced a fantastic special video report from the Italy vs Scotland match in Padova last weekend (17th Oct). The video features interviews with Scotland's Head Coach Steve McCormack about the win and what is next for scotland. Steve states that despite a great start for the Scotland Squad, they must "keep their feet on the ground" in preparation for the home fixture against Lebanon in two weeks time (1st November).  Italy 0 Scotland 104 By Gavin Willacy at Stadio Plebiscito Scotland set records galore at Stadio Plebiscito on Saturday afternoon as the 2009 rugbyleague.com European Cup opened in spectacular fashion in Padova. They ran in 18 tries, nine in each half, and centre Mick Nanyn converted all but two of the kicks at goal. Italy, late replacements for Russia, suffered a series of withdrawals from their squad over the last 48 hours before kick off and with their NRL and Toyota Cup contingent playing in the Euro-Med Cup in Sydney against Greece this morning, their depleted team suffered against an excellent Scotland. |
