Scotland opened up their Tri-nations campaign on Saturday with a 90-12 defeat to Wales

It wasn’t the greatest of starts for Scotland as offside was called from the opening play. Wales duly opened the scoring with Stuart Williams touching down from the resultant play from which Stephen Halsey converted.

Wales then extended their lead with tries from Scotty Trigg-Turner and Halsey, who converted both tries with Scotland 18-0 down in the first seven minutes.

Scotland appeared to have no answer to relentless Wales attack as they rolled in 4 more tries through Trigg-Turner and three from Halsey. All 4 were successfully converted by Halsey.

Andrew Higgins then added a penalty before Scotland managed to get points on the board through Michael Mellon which Daniel Grant coverted.

Stuart Williams then crossed just before half-time but Higgins failed to convert. The score at the break was 48-6.

The second half started much the same as the first half for Scotland with Wales rolling in 2 tries in the opening  5 minutes through Higgins and Lucie Roberts with Higgins converting both.

Wales scored twice more through Mark Williams and Jason Owen which were converted by Higgins and Mark Williams respectively to bring the score up to 72-6 to Wales

Scotland then finished off a beautifully worked move orchestrated by Mellon and involving the 2 debutant of Midge Hartley and Dave Anderson, which created an overlap enabling Gavin Dobson to score unchallenged. Mellon then converted successfully making the score 72-12.

Wales then added a further 3 tries through Richard Carver, Owen and Gary Taylor who converted all 3.
