It is rare in sport that a sponsor supports any sport for more than 3 to 4 years. That is most definitely not the case for Corporate Hospitality and VIP Experiences company MatchPoint.
MatchPoint was founded in 1992 and are based in Edinburgh. In 2013 the founder of the business Neil Cunningham and Keith Hogg, Chair of Scotland Rugby League were put in touch by Niel Wood who was then working at the Rugby Football League. As a result of this MatchPoint became a sponsor for the 2013 World Cup.
A long and enjoyable relationship between the 2 organisations continues to this day. MatchPoint feature on all match shirts. It is the MatchPoint tartan used in the tartan match shorts that are worn for all World Cups and major tournaments. MatchPoint paid for the kilts that the men’s squad wore at the 2013 and 2017 World Cups and will support the Wheelchair and Men’s teams for the 2021 World Cup. The same for the trews worn by members of staff.
2020 has been a very challenging year for everyone and business wise any corporate hospitality business has been severely impacted by Covid 19. Having been reassured by Scotland Rugby League that their long term support was very much appreciated and given the circumstances there was no need for them to support us for the 2020 season, Neil Cunningham insisted that MatchPoint made a contribution for the 2020 season, a gesture that shows the quality of MatchPoint the business and the people that lead the organisation.
Thanks from everyone involved in Scotland Rugby League goes to Neil, Vicki and their team at MatchPoint for their ongoing and invaluable support.
MatchPoint began in 1992 and now has offices in Edinburgh, Hong Kong and Sydney. MatchPoint works in partnership with rights holders and venues to achieve their corporate hospitality objectives of maximising the commercial return providing excellence in delivery.
