Born near Monchengladbach, Germany John qualifies through his mother who was born in Perth.
Introduced to Rugby at Queen Victoria boarding School in Dunblane. John played rugby for the school.
In 2017 John was in a motorbike accent that left his right leg crushed into 20 pieces.
John was introduced into Wheelchair rugby by Dundee Dragons where he started playing wheel chair basketball and decided to give rugby a try and is now a member of Dundee dragons Rugby wheelchair team. He has also represented the UK at the Warriors games 2019 out in Tampa Florida. He made his Scotland Debut in 2018 at the Tri-Nations Tournament.
John currently plays for Dundee dragons.
